How do I get to Immaculate Conception Church?
Our parish is located at 1712 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701. Here is a map.
Where should I park?
The lot across the street from the church on Highland Avenue is available for very convenient parking! There is also street parking along the surrounding streets.
Where do my children go?
Children should remain with their guardians throughout the Mass. We have many resources available for children. Please utilize the "Praise Packs" available for kids to use during Mass. These can be found in the Family Room at the back of the church. Our family room is a very useful space for you and your children during Mass where you can still see and participate. There is also a family-friendly restroom in the Family Room.
At our Sunday 8:30am Mass, we have our Children's Liturgy of the Word. All children ages 3 - 2nd Grade are welcome to participate any weekend. No prior sign-up is required. The priest will invite the children forward, and they will gather in Fr Klink Hall (our gathering space) to participate in a lesson and activities related to the weekend readings. The children will return around Communion Time.
I’m not Catholic, how do I know when to sit, stand and kneel?
There’s no need to be self-conscious about the postures and responses used during worship. Most visitors just follow the lead of our parishioners. However, our hymnals, located in each pew, provide you with the order of the Mass, the postures, and the words of each prayer. If you don't see a hymnal in your pew, ask an usher, and they will be happy to bring you one.
I’m not Catholic, is it okay for me to participate in communion?
Communion, or The Eucharist, is the most intimate expression of our faith. Catholics believe that the host is literally the body of Christ, transformed from bread by the priest presiding over the service. Most evangelicals think of Communion as symbolic, so it makes sense that they are not as strict about having the right relationship with it as Catholics and Orthodox Christians who believe it is a sacrament and the true presence of Christ. So, if you are not Catholic, we ask that you not receive communion. However, those not receiving the Body of Christ and Precious blood are invited to come forward with their hands crossed over their chests for a special blessing.
Am I expected to put money into the offering?
If you are visiting with us, we don't expect you to put money into the offering, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. If you consider our parish your church home, we'd love for you to prayerfully consider giving to our parish on a weekly basis. You can give by check or cash during the service, or you can give online here.
I have a hearing problem, is there any special assistance?
Yes! Our church offers headphones for those hard-of-hearing. You may grab one from an Usher when you arrive and they will help you get set up.
