Deacon Power taught English and History in the public schools for 32 years. He earned a Master’s degree in English Literature from UW-Eau Claire in 2008. The last five years of his teaching career he also completed Deacon Formation in the Diocese of La Crosse and was ordained a Deacon in October of 2016, five months after he retired from teaching. He is married and has four children and, so far, two grandchildren. Deacon Power and his wife, Emily, have been members of Immaculate Conception Parish since 1994. A large part of his ministry involves administering the Missionary Discipleship Small Group program, which builds up members of the Parish to be on-fire disciples of Jesus Christ, with the intention that our entire Parish might become “a light on a lampstand” to the Eau Claire community. He also administers the RCIA Process, assisting non-Catholics in their journey into the Church, and instructing Catholics who may have missed one or more of the Sacraments of Initiation.
